The picture is not mine and not of him, but two of his friends, but is looks sooooo good that It immidiately triggered the gratetude in me this afternoon!
My husband has been hiking a glacier in France with a group of friends this weekend. It has been tough, rewarding and stunning as far as I've been informed. Grateful for him having these trips, and friends like these, and grateful for having him back safe soon.

While my husband is in France, hiking on a glacier with a group friends, my children are having 9 teenage friends in the house for a sleep-over, so the dog and I chose to sneak out yesterday to spend the evening and night at my mother in law, to leave them on their own.
Grateful that I have my mother in law living just 3 minutes away by foot! If I could choose freely. Having all the mother in laws in the world lined up side by side, and I was told to just pick anyone. My choice entirely. Then I wouldn't hesitate for a second. I would choose her. She's clever and worldly-wise, sensitive and strong, inspirational and brave, a wonderful support, a strong conversational partner and exceptionally embracing. Like really exceptionally good at embracing everything she hears, sees, experience and meet in her life. When walking the dog early in the morning, while she was preparing breakfast, and passing by this little stream in the small forest right next to her house, I wasn't in doubt. Gratitude approached me early today! Last Summer when waiting for the train at the airport, I met a small US family about to begin their holidays in Copenhagen. We had a nice chat in the train, and we exchanged contact details, so that I could create a Google+ site for them with tips on where go and what to see with a toddler. Ross, the father is a software developer in Google, så lucky for me I chose Google+ ;-)
About a week ago, Adam posted on Facebook. I've only met Adam once. He is actor, and I've hired him for a client workshop three years ago. Adam is a huge Google fan, and when doing road trip in CA, and approaching SF he was asking his Facebook friends if anyone knew someone who could help him make a Google visit possible. I took a chance and wrote a guy I've only talked to for 20 minutes or so. Less than 24 hours later, Ross had replied and couple of days later Adam was invited to lunch at Google, SF. It's funny how things works. I didn't get to see the Google Campus or drive California in a gorgeous white convertible of any kind, but it surely felt like it. I just love how sociale media and networking works effectively together like that. Got totally energized for hours, not least when receiving this picture from Adam today. A great day in Copenhagen. Crazy about the pulse of our capital, and thankful for plenty of chances going there workwise. But leaving the highway, on the way back, turning to the left by the end of the street, and then little by little being more and more in contact with the sea while following the coast back home. It's kind of magic, each and every time.
Today gratitude came early in the morning, working with this wonderful supportive "colleague" under my desk.
Always feel grateful on days when the guy from Aarstiderne.com has just left my doorstep. Weekly delivery of fresh organic fruits and veggies, and the look is just as tempting as the taste.
I know I've said it before, but it often strikes me how precious our senses are.
My mother lost her sense of smelling years ago, and today when standing in the garden for a short while, I'd wish I could share the smell of my favorite rose with her. I don't have to go near the rose. Can just stand meters away, and suddenly the wind brings the alluring fragrance to me. As much as I'd wish I could share it with her, I can't. But I can let her help me reminding myself to be grateful for all of my senses. Including the ability to be allured by white flower petals behind the corner of my house on a September morning. On a day - and during times - when the rest of my country seems to be joining each other in running half marathon, marathon, doing iron man or triathlon, I'm just grateful for my 5 kilometers in the local forest with my dog and husband. A really cloudy day today, was in bed at 4 in the morning after a great night out, got an extra dog without owner by our 2nd kilometer, and had to find him before we could continue, so all in all a really slow-mo-time.
But I actually enjoyed it - every step of the way, and grateful to see my running shoes get worn-out little by little. Thought I would never get to actually like running. Amazing how grateful you can feel, when walking the dog and suddenly thinking you've lost your keys, and after a short heart race, realizing they're still hanging around your thumb!
