This is not a picture taken today. But the picture couldn't be more appropriate for my gratitude today.
The camera, containing today's gratitude picture, was stolen tonight. So was a lot of my other photos and videos, my bag, a Mac and an iPhone all from the back of a locked car (a car which was checked twice - and it was safely locked!). We left the car for less than an hour in the center of Copenhagen, and when we returned all was gone. Only one personal item, not useful for the thief(s), was left behind for me.
For many reasons this is not just a small loss. My daughter knew that, and we were silent for a long while.
Driving back with her, she suddenly turned to me and said;
"Mom, you are the strongest and most wonderful Mom in the entire universe. I just want you to know that!"
...Of course I know, that what I deal with - even though it's more than "just" losing these items - is far less than what other people around the world - and in Denmark - are facing. Therefore I also know for a fact that my strength are nothing compared to theirs!
But having my 14 year old say that, with all that compassion in her voice, made me realize that I was actually able to sincerely feel gratitude - even when I though that tonight I would not be able to.
