Spending the entire day cooking for a group of girlfriends, coming over for dinner tonight.
Don't have to do anything today, but cooking for them. Playing loud music in my kitchen. Spending lots of extra time kneading the dough for the starters, enjoying the firmness of the dough under my palms. Feeling joy when watching the beautiful stack of blueberries for the dessert, and getting high on Indian spices, when roasting them on a warm frying pan for the main corse. Grateful for the feeling of intense happiness. Grateful for being able to be home when this little-big girl returns from school. Being 15 but looking like a 6 year old at this very moment. Sore throat, not feeling well at all... and afraid to miss out on a party tonight...
I've no idea why this structure can make me grateful, but it does. And has done for years.
Not every time, I pass, but just on some days. Looking like a painting when passing by, walking the dog. Cannot resist letting my fingers slide over the surface. Love the colors, and love the sensation under my fingertips. Once again finding joy and gratitude in something as simple as the sight of ingredients from the organic webshop www.aarstiderne.com
These moment are absolutely magic.
Missing summer and spring, but this is one of the wonderful gifts of fall and winter. Long Sunday walk in the forest with a friend that I haven't seen for too long.
And yet so easy to continue where we left off. Having borrowed this bike with built-in engine for a week.
Grateful for every second of the look on my son's face. He might be too old for having his picture taking on a bad hair day/morning. But he's NOT too old for expressing joy with every muscle in his face while driving this fun-bike. About to let my dog into the car for a walk in the forest this afternoon, when another dog was approaching on the other side of the street. My dog was gone before I have any chance to react, and she crosses the street at the very same time a car approaches. He is obviously an experienced driver, and not driving too fast, he managed to stop the car just in time to avoid hitting my dog in the middle of the street.
He even managed to stay calm, and not showing any signs of aggression against me nor my dog. Fortunate and grateful for this man's reaction, in the traffic and towards me, and very grateful for not having to meet my children with some very sad news today! |
