I am not much of a "diamonds & pearls" kind of person.
Always thought of the beach, with all it's stones and seashells, as my kind of jewelry store.
Not much of a tied bouquet or a dozen-of-red-roses type either.
I find much more beauty in a few stalks from the garden or a wild and "untamed" bunch of flowers, picked at the side of the road.
Gratitude can indeed be found in different things and situations depending on who we are, and what you value.
It can for sure be found in the little things, if only you look closely and pay attention.
Today, putting these lovely stalks of harbingers of spring in a vase, and enjoying the feeling of anticipation they caused, I noticed this birthday card on the kitchen table. It was the card that my 14-year old had yesterday given her 12-year old brother. The card says something like; "You're so damn cute", and I suddenly recall a dialogue from yesterday ending with my son saying; "...yeah, but haven't you noticed Mom; we have actually been getting along pretty well lately".
I've got to admit that they have. And I also have to admit that I hadn't really noticed.
It got me thinking that they are actually doing quite all right getting along, for a teen and a pre-teen.
That is totally something to be grateful for!
...and actually it's not a small thing at all.
