I'm not fanatic. And I eat foods that I know I shouldn't, even though my mind is trying to tell me not to.
However I was brought up quite healthy, and I actually think my mother, more or less consciously, pre-coded my tastebuds to always be craving for stuff like this.
I love the colors, the smells, the tastes, the feeling between my teeth - especially when these guys are raw or close to raw - and I love the feeling in my stomach.
Back then - at least as a young kid, I envied my classmates their white bread, their colored soft drinks and their red salami. When I grew older, and especially today, I'm truly grateful for my mother's persistence.
I'm trying to do the same with my kids, and I know for sure, that my youngest doesn't appreciate my effort.
Maybe some day he will...
Until then, I'll enjoy the looks, the smells, the tastes and the recurring cravings.
Welcome to my kitchen you handsome green guys!
